Another resin bound decorative driveway installed in Purley, Surrey.
TVG Landscaping, installers of quality landscaping, garden design and driveways have completed another new driveway in Purley, Surrey.
The driveway was widened and edged in yellow brick to accomodate an extra vehicle, then resufaced with Autumn Gold resin bound aggregate to form a new porous and beautiful decorative driveway. Instantly increasing the value of the property by 20%, according to a local estate agent, Trevor McPhew.
Resin bound aggregate is becoming a more popular choice for driveway surfaces and pathways, in particular for disabled access. One of the main reasons, is that when laid on porous tarmac, the surface is SUDS compliant and does not need planning regulations.
TVG Landscaping has a wealth of experience in Landscaping services and invcludes commercial grounds care and commercial landscaping but are also heavily experienced in the domestic landscaping, garden design, build, installation and maintenance experience across the South of England, covering London, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire and Kent.

Garden design including efficient irrigation and water conservation.
A good garden design with an irrigation system can, using a set of principles and practices, result in landscape water conservation. This means you could have a cottage garden, English garden, formal or informal garden or a native garden and follow general principles. All would look distinctly different but use the same water conserving practices.
By definition, a quality landscaping and garden that conserves water and protects the environment. A well designed garden is a landscape that can survive on less water using these seven principles.
– Planning and Design. If you want an attractive landscape regardless of style or plant selection, you need a good design. A well-designed master plan can keep you on track and help you achieve your landscape objectives.
– Soil Amendment. Organic matter can improve the water and nutrient holding capacity of your soil as well as many other aspects of the soil, thereby improving plant growth. If you are going to use desert-adapted plants, soil amending may not be necessary if your soil is well drained. If the drainage isn’t good amendments or expanded shale will be necessary.
– Efficient Irrigation. This is often the most difficult aspect of any landscape — xeric or otherwise. Using an automatic watering system, the system can be set up to zone the turf separately from other plants because it needs water more frequently. Drip irrigation is a simple and effective way to water beds and even turf. Sprinkler irrigation, hand or automatic, should release a big droplet close to the ground for less drift and evaporation. Water deeply and infrequently to develop deep roots and adjust your schedule monthly to accommodate weather conditions. Install rain sensor to shut off the device when it rains.
– Appropriate Plants and Zoning. Different areas in your yard receive different amounts of light, wind and moisture so match plants to these areas to minimize water waste. Dry, sunny areas support low-water-use plants that grow well in our climate.
– Mulch. Mulch keeps plant roots cool, prevents soil from crusting, minimizes evaporation and reduces weed growth. Organic mulches, such as shredded bark chips, wood grindings, should be applied 4 inches deep. This type of ,mulch will need renewing each season but you could use coloured recycled rubber bark mulch in the same way. Rubber does not absorb any water, so that the water goes directly to the plants and acts a great mulch, doesn’t get blown around by birds/animals and doesn’t need restocking! Inorganic mulches, such as rocks and gravel, should be applied 2 to 3 inches deep. Rock makes an area much hotter, so be sure to design shading plants into the landscape to reduce heat they reflect and release.
– Reduced or Alternative Turf. Reduce the amount of turf by increasing beds and bed size also using ground cover. Hardscaping is another way to cut down on the amount of turf you have. Native grasses (warm-season) like Buffalo, blue grama and perhaps Reveille hybrid bluegrass may reduce water use. Local testing or demonstrations would be helpful to confirm these options.
Even artificial turfs, which some do look amazing, will make a green area for 12 months of the year, and doesn’t require ANY watering at all.
– Maintenance. All landscapes need maintenance to some degree, and if they don’t get it, they will fall into a terrible state that requires tremendous labour to correct it. Failing to provide timely maintenance (mowing, pruning, deadheading, planting, etc.) is a harmful mistake to your landscape investment.

Garden Design in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire.
TVG Landscaping are pleased to announce a new working relationship with Harsha Desai of http://hrddesign.co.uk/
TVG Landscaping has a wealth of design, build, installation and maintenance experience and coupled with Harsha’s professional qualifications in design, in both commercial and domestic areas, we beleive that this will be an excellent joint service to the domestic and commercial clients.
We aim to provide a design and build service to our clients, with the emphasis on what the client actually wants, not what we beleive the customer wants. There is a distinct difference here, we are happy to offer advice but as its the clients garden or work space, they should decide what they want.
We also believe in designing for maintenance. Why have a nice new garden when its first been designed and built, only for it not to be looked after and in ruins after several months. So part of our design, build service will include a professional gardener to come in and mainteain the garden, usually weekly but it can be less often, for instance in Spring or Autumn, when plants need that extra care to maintain why they were included in the design in the first place.

The Creating Landscapes Trade Show, Capel Manor College
Press release:
The Creating Landscapes Trade Show, Capel Manor College
A new trade show for the landscaping and gardening industry is to take place in October at Capel Manor College, Enfield, in London.
The Creating Landscapes Trade Show will run on 25 and 26 October, 2011, and bring together horticulture practitioners with product and equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
The show has come out of the success of the websites Landscape Juice and the Landscape Juice Network, the online home of landscapers and garden designers in the UK.
Phil Voice, owner of the Creating Landscapes Trade Show, said: “The event will translate the vibrant and exciting ‘juice’ we have been sharing on the network into something physical.
“Over the past five years the websites have been online destinations where people have been able to make connections, both in offering advice and assistance, but also in providing feedback on products and services.
“So it seemed a natural progression to create a show where people could meet up, discuss new ideas and find out more about the products landscapers and garden designers use in their day-to-day work.
“Creating Landscapes breaks the mould when it comes to conventional trade shows because we go on working for our exhibitors twenty-four hours a day via the internet, long after the physical event has finished.”
Headline sponsor of the show is Marshalls Plc, who will be showcasing new products and trends to help landscapers grow their own business.
And visitors will also be able to see some of the newest electric-powered hand tools, garden machinery, bulb and plant suppliers, wild flower turf growers, sculptors and artists as well as business professionals to help with back-office tasks.
“The Creating Landscapes Trade Show is tightly focused on the needs of the landscaper and garden designer, be that the tools of the trade or services and ideas that will help them run a better business,” said Phil Voice.
“I am sure visitors to the show will meet exhibitors who are able to provide helpful advice, but who are keen to ensure that a connection remains in place both online and offline, ensuring the voice of the practitioner continues to be heard.”
